犬 here an abbreviated form of 猒 (Type 8 Phonetic) as described in 厭 (rich/fatty meat weighing down on the stomach) + an element combining 肉 flesh and 火 fire → (fatty) meat roasting over a low fire → burn. Thus, that's right, but, however, and as it is are borrowed meanings.
